Simply put, a heart attack is the result of a sudden blockage in the blood supply to the heart. Once the blockage occurs heart muscle starts to die and you must act quickly to get medical help to reopen the blocked artery. It has been shown that your chances to be alive one year after a heart attack decreases by roughly 7.5% for every 30 minute delay in getting treated. So you must be ready to act quickly once you recognize the symptoms. Be Heart Smart!
